ABOUT
In college, I got to use Bill Warner’s Avid. Bill invented the hardware that allowed digital editing of compressed video files, and he was one of the owners of the company. When he left in the 90s, they gave him his shares of stock and one Avid. I cut a documentary student film on that thing and had a direct phone number to my very own tech support person. I didn’t know how good I had it, but I used that opportunity to learn everything there is to know about editing on Media Composer.
Today, I have a system that’s a lot faster than that Avid right in my home, and I was nominated for an Emmy when I edited Fresh Fried & Crispy (Netflix) remotely during the pandemic. Technology has changed, but the skills remain the same. I love the art of the edit, and I have tried to get better every day since the first time I sat down at Bill’s Avid.
Most recently, I edited the indie feature For Worse with Amy Landecker and Bradley Whitford, which turned out to be the job of a lifetime. My favorite unscripted edit has to be Shape of Pasta with Evan Funke which involved writing a lot of the story to accompany the stunning footage. And just a few years ago I was able to cross off a bucket list edit, working with Zero Point Zero Productions, the creators Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations, when I cut their CNN show Nomad.
I pride myself on being creative, fast, and amiable for an editor. If you know, you know. My specialties are unscripted documentary style content, fast moving trailers, and anything driven by the music.
